>> The LGBT Steering Group came together from this gathering & training with belong-to, LGBT awareness training and the process of building an LGBT Youth Dropin was set in motion. Wexford's LGBT Community were represented by David Clarke Gay Wexford Youth Officer, Deirdre n’ Dhubhghaill & Eamonn Byrne. The HSE, belong-to, FDYS, WLD, Gorey Youth Needs were but a few of the organisations involved.

26th November 2009 Gay Wexford announced its change of focus from an advocacy group to concentrating on its social strengths in Developing as a Community group promoting safe socials & services. Formally adopting Gay Wexford as our new trading Name. Funding was sought & recieved from the CFI, lottery funds and raised via exhibitions and other fundraising

David Norriss visited Wexford on the 20th of June 2008 to officially Launch the Wexford LGBT Development Company Ltd T/A EAGLƒ as an Limited Company. A great time was had by all.

September 2007 initiation of collaboration with South. Most sucessfull joint venture "LGBT Information week", February 2008

Brief History

September 2012 LGBT Youth Wexford is in full flight, operating from Wexford and Gorey towns. The LGBT Steering committee became a Steering Group & widen their remitt to include other LGBT matters, retaining LGBT Youth development around County Wexford as it's priority.

November 2011 Gay Youth Wexford opened it's doors on a trial period from the Cloisters in the FDYS building. The Steering Group had secured funding to run the Gay Youth Drop in for a year, by the beginging of 2012. Gorey Youth needs opened its LGBT Youth Group early 2012 too. David Clarke was appointed Wexford's first LGBT Youth officer June 2012 opperating from the FDYS.

October 2011 Gay Youth Wexford use some of it's WLD funding to hold an LGBT information week in conjunction with Gay Wexford. The week was most sucessful in bringing a number of people interested in developing LGBT youth facilities in New Ross, Enniscorthy and around County Wexford.

June 2011 GaySE.net becomes the LGBT Southeast Newsletter (eZine) expanding its content, audience and working from Wexfrd Town

May 2011 Hostile take over of Gay Wexford by Paul Cullen & his crew.

June 2010 Gay Wexford approached Wexford Local Development fro assistance with the Newsletter they surprised use returning that6 would help with the Newsletter but had Û10,000 funding available to assist the LGBT Gommunity with Gay Wexford's help. Gay Wexford began capacity building, research towards developing the Gay Youth Drop-in Centre. Originally it was hoped an adult center would be devloped too. August 2010 LGBT Diversity got involved. September 2010 an open meeting was held to find groups and individuals willing to participate in devloping the Gay Youth Drop-in. >>
